Every summer for the past 14 years, Velo Quebec, the provincial cycling association, has organized a "Grand Tour" in August. This cyclo-touring experience is suited to people of all ages; over 2,000 men and women set out on bicycle, most of them over 45. The cyclists ride unburdened while trucks haul their luggage and tents to the next night's stopping place. Velo Quebec efficiently provides food, showers, mechanical services and entertainment. The cyclists create an instant tent city in the playing fields of some university, high school, or community centre.
