Before you start looking for a volunteer opportunity, take the time to do a good self-assessment to figure out how much time you want to dedicate to volunteering, and what kind of work you would like to do.

If you don’t see something there that interests you, Cheryl Humphrey, of Volunteer Calgary, describes how to find a challenging volunteer opportunity. She recommends picking the organization you want to work with, and getting a meeting with the director.
